I think I remember the magic mushrooms had to come from grain feed cattle. I always think I remember something was added later to the feed to keep them from growing. The field around the back of Kleinpeter was good hunting. The was also one off 42 around the concrete guy statue.

I was a real earthy type dude in my youth. I have done Acid , Shrooms and mescaline. Me the the crew did this regularly.
I can’t say I have ever had kind of break thru type experience . A really good time , for sure. I have tripped from clubs to camping and a couple times even work.
It’s been more than 20 years and I can’t say I have any negative symptoms. Did it change my perspective on the world? Maybe. How would I know?

Interesting you bring up this topic as I listened to the "Stuff you should know" podcast on LSD yesterday. It was very interesting and made me wish I had tried it in college. Amazing that you could buy it off of the shelf up until the mid-sixties or so!!! It is also said that it is not a habit forming drug. I wonder why it is not studied more today. Cancer patients and folks with depression or PTSD could benefit from its affects.

Yes. In 1991 I was day tripping sitting in the sand on the riverbank contemplating about me soon going off to chiropractic school. It dawned on me there that I was about to spend the rest of my life in a room with 4 walls popping peoples backs. I threw all my preparations away and changed course.
What did you ending up doing?

What is the summary of your higher understanding?

Studies seem to show that psychedelics allow our brains to ‘relearn’ and replace our foundational knowledge with fresh ideas that otherwise wouldn’t break through.
Best described like a set of train tracks that run through a forest. The forest is your brain and the train tracks are everything you’ve learned, been taught or have accepted as truths.
Psychedelics seem to allow the train tracks to be rebuilt, changed or at least altered. It may be deeply held religious beliefs, fears of death or our understanding of how the world works.
All these can be dramatically changed when doors of perception are opened with these drugs. It allows a window to be opened that was otherwise closed.

Just curious-anyone ever had an experience like this?
I built a fire in my living room on Acid once.

I wouldn't call it a breakthrough, but it definitely fundamentally altered my view of our universe. I have a moderately extensive experience with various psychedelics. Mushrooms, LSD, Ketamine, MDA, MDMA, DMT, and Ketamine. Everything from very small does to taking enough to experience ego death. Also did a few "research chemicals" (2C and 2-CT-7) back in the day, but I don't recommend those. A decent dose of MDMA and smaller dose of psilocybin was my favorite combo.
I think experiencing ego death has been the most profound event in my life. It's a game changer once you experience that. I could see how it might really frick with someone, but it was nothing but a positive experience for me. It's unexplainable the feeling you get when you cease to exist and become part of the universe. There is nothing in our language that can adequately convey it. As you reassemble yourself, you start to see the parts of you that you like and don't like, and you're able to better understand those parts of yourself.
It's been almost two decades since I've done all that, and it still vividly stays with me. I'd like to do it again in a few years, but having kids has really messed with my mindset that I'd need to go into it. It may have to wait until my kids are much older. Let's say I send the kids to the grandparents for the weekend and I take the drugs, I would feel like a piece of shite for doing it. Like what if something happened to my kids while I was on it? I couldn't live with myself after that. That would be a very hard feeling to suppress and have a good trip.

Yes, with psilocybin mushrooms. First time was an overall recognition of patterns that occur in everyday life. I realize this may not seem like a breakthrough but to 18 year old me it was an expansion of breaking out of a particular mindset. Second time was in Amsterdam. Loved the Van Gogh museum, hated the Heineken Experience. Third time was another breakthrough of sorts, where I understood existence to have a relationship with a circle. Again, major stuff for a 21 year old.
But things like mental health breakthroughs? Nope. I hear these type of psychotropic drugs can help better than most but I have no experience with that aspect.

Had the opportunity but declined because I was afraid of what I might find in the deep recesses of my own mind, no ragrets.

Nothing unusual. I think a lot of folks interpret things to be more substantial than it really is while on hallucinogens. Maybe long term microdosing makes a difference.

Do shrooms show up on drug tests?

There was in the early 90’s. If the feed their fed comes from the local co-op, their manure won’t grow the magic mushrooms.

No they don’t show up. Man I watched an Alabama Vs miss state game on them what time when jalen hurts was qb. Could have sworn I was standing on the sideline watching the game. The cowbells were great.

I know up until the early 2000's you could still pick them on the fields off of Brightside. Or so I heard, of course.

Fun times. I went to several Bama football and basketball games on shrooms or acid back in the late 80’s. I grew my own mushrooms in college. They were way more potent than the cow shite ones.
The breakthrough on psychedelics for me was they open a part of your mind that can’t be opened in everyday life. In the right setting, you get a sense of total contentment with the world and feel at one with it. The blue skies are bluer, the air is more crisp and soul cleansing when you take a deep breath, the birds chirping sound beautiful, the clouds are fluffier and prettier, flowers are more vibrant. It’s an amazing feeling and impossible to convey to anyone that has never experienced it.

This nails it for me. I know a lot of the focus has been on microdosing in recent years, which may be preferable for some, but you’re not going to get to all the good (and bad) stuff that way. Nothing in my life has compared to really going all in and breaking everything down.
I think transformational is an inadequate word for it as I don’t feel like a different person afterwords or anything like that. I just feel a much more complete sense of self-awareness, my strengths and weaknesses, and how I fit in the world/universe.

No. Not in the 7 or 10 panel test industry uses. I believe there is a test, but it’s expensive and rarely used.
Your good.
Your good.

Or just read a lot of Jung and learn to do it without psychedelics.
