re: Has anyone else noticed a massive increase in sobriety "content" over the past year or so?

It may be because people are starting to realize that alcohol really IS the new cigarette, in that people used it as a social crutch only to find out it’s a huge cause of cancer. GI cancer on the 40 and under crowd has soared, and alcohol intake is a huge part of why.

a lot of these newly "sober" people are probably taking a cocktail of stimulants and anti-depressants every day, so claiming sobriety isn't fair.
That’s what I see a lot.

One of the few trends I can get behind.
Booze is absolutely worse than a good majority of illegal substances out there.

Or that nothing good happens when you’re plastered
Not just DWI either. We all talk about getting drunk and going home with trolls at 2 am, well pretty girls do so and go home with 5’8” dudes they never would if they were sober. That’s worse than death to them

I’m glad the only drug I partake in is caffeine. Start my day with it along with some hate in the morning commute.

It just means everyone you know is getting older and can’t party like they used to

History will not look favorable toward the draconian knee jerk reactions with lockdowns, it’s it’s already here and showing it’s the ugly face of consequences. 2020 messed a lot of people up and I think that’s why you’re now seeing sobriety
Also think of all the preventive procedures, surgeries and screenings for cancer and the like that didn't take place or were drastically limited between March 2020 to the fall of 2021 due to the propaganda of Covid and hospital/manpower resources.

I was joking about him being solely responsible.
He put out a really good podcast on all things alcohol. It is wildly popular. It is 2 hour long form podcast.

i wouldn't think much of it but it feels extremely inauthentic and trendy. the people i actually know who are doing it were never big partiers or drinkers for the most part, yet they're talking about how life changing it is. of course people who have problems should go sober but a lot of this feels like stolen valor.
Lol! You soft. Only extreme addicts are allowed to discuss ways to improve their lives?

This as well.
Times change, but people stay the same.
Everybody gets to 30+ with multiple kids and realizes feeling like shite every Saturday and Sunday sucks.
Now, everyone has a platform to gloat about it. Hence the OP's noticing.
The same people will be back throwing them down once the kids are gone.

Every other drug should be legal like alcohol.
FIFY. If it was, you wouldn’t have the problems we have now.
Yep.
They're afraid someone will overdose because clearly, that's not happening now.

I don’t see in online that much. But people are telling me more and more I should stop drinking. So I guess I agree with you.
Just wish I could go one sales meeting where I wouldn’t hear that. Stuck up doctors
