Has anybody noticed lately there are a lot of commercials with a white bf and black gf?

I've been seeing many commercials featuring interracial couples of a white man and black woman. I've seen this very rarely in everyday life.

What I'm wondering is:

A. Have you noticed the same thing?

B. How do advertisers all seem to do this at the same time? Did they all just decide it's the hot new thing right now to feature this particular demographic?

I would have had a black girlfriend but my dad said he'd kick me out of the house. :(

I've noticed it and I agree that it's rare IRL. I did have a buddy from HS that married a black Hooters girl. It lasted a few years

At least when you have this, it's ALWAYS a lighter skinned black girl.

As said, there have been several posts, even in the last week. They certainly seem to being trying to force this concept upon us. When I go places, especially theme parks, malls, etc, I rarely see white bf and black gf. I see just the opposite. Just last week during spring break on vacation, there were many black guys that could get high quality women who were with atrociously ugly, fat white women.

More important things to worry about than this. The only thing i can relate to this was the new star wars movie with just about every human character being a female

I have.

In my son's Highlights magazines, the married couples are almost always a minority couple or an interracial couple. There was one that my wife and I discussed where it looked like the kids were a mixed race and the mom was black. There was a photo on the wall of her and the two kids, so it looked like the magazine was showing a family with a white biological father who was no longer around, a black mother, and light skinned black kids.

There is an ardent belief in the humanities that society is heavily influenced by representations in culture and media. Media studies as a field of study is not really based on understanding the hardware involved in producing media. It's about the stories, the theories, the ideologies.

So, yes. I would say that advertisers are trying to sway public opinion by depicting a normal, common family being a white male and a black female.

Or it's smart advertising to include as many demographics as possible.

It's why Barbie just came out with all those different ones so they could sell more.

It's not some conspiracy unless the conspiracy is to make more money.

I noticed that and I also noticed that there were commercial that were advertising Star Wars toys and costumes on TV, and they always showed little girls playing with the toys and lightsabers and whatnot.

I was like dang, where are the boys? Boys are the ones who traditionally liked Star Wars, but it seemed like the advertisers were neglecting them totally to sell Star Wars to girls. It was very strange.
