To be honest that wouldn't have been acceptable with my family either.
There are some exceptions but I've never really found the vast majority of black women attractive anyway so it was never a big issue. Attractiveness is subjective obviously.

I honestly feel bad for African-American women. My wife has a coworker who is AA who is educated, petite, well spoken and witty. But she says any African-American men she's attracted to (college educated, athletic, well-spoken, etc.) are more interested in the white women that seem to flock to them than African-American women like her.
She was dealt a bad hand and if she were another minority (Asian, South American, Indian, etc.) guys of other races would go for her but on the whole it ain't happening.

A bunch of these so-called interracial couples are actually Hispanic. It's not unusual to see a lighter complexioned Hispanic male with a darker toned woman.
Marketers realize the growth in numbers and disosable income of this demographic and are aggressively courting it. Of course if you are so easily triggered you will think there is some great leftist conspiracy to make you accept that all humans are equal.

I have a good friend(black,) that was married to a white girl, he was all about moving forward, getting better, in short, getting out of the ghetto, she became such a trashy bitch, and altough from a middle class upbringing, she tried to keep everything ghetto while he was building a good career, and planning for the future, their kids used to get beat up on for acting too white, she ended up leaving him for some ghetto trash while he's still on the upward move
