My parents moved from Pineville,La. to Baton Rouge when I was in 1st grade.
Since graduating from LSU I have lived in Washington DC, Boston, Munich, Los Alamos, and Lost in the Woods Missouri.

I wonder if Pineville has a dating scene? I know the Baptist college is still there.

I think you have me confused with another poster. I’ve never been to cottage inn. I mostly hang out at Park Place, Gilla, Nic’s (RIP), Fat Catz, or Tiger Tavern when I’m in AP.

No I'm just fricking with you about a random AP mainstay. Faqbutt.

Find a woman first otherwise you'll be limited mostly to fatties, crack whores, or divorced trashy women.

My concern would be that so many small towns are dead or dying. The only thing remaining are meth heads, unemployment, decay, and desperation.

You're right, I think people generally romanticize rural/small town life a little too much. Before NAFTA and the opioid epidemic, small towns were an easy bet for a decent quality of life, now, not so much.

I’m from a small town but left when I went to college. First, I would say that I hope you like church because the more stable families almost all go to church. It’s just the truth, and I say that as someone who rarely goes to church now.
Dating is going to be really tough as well. Honestly, the best marriage candidates get scooped up pretty early in these small towns. Those country boys don’t let the good ones sit around for long.
As you pointed out, there aren’t many jobs for folks with college degrees, and many rural areas (like the one that I am from) don’t have cable internet, which would affect your ability to do remote work.
If you really want to do it, I wouldn’t choose a super small town or at least pick one relatively close to a town with some sort of small college that will mean new people are coming and going. Otherwise, you are going to struggle to meet a girl unless you get super lucky. Maybe a small town 20-30 minutes outside of a place like Monroe. That would still give you the ability to meet a girl in your 20s while living in a pretty rural environment.
