Honestly traffic is my main concern.

Several pumps that move 45,000 gpm could help NOLA move a lot of water, but nowhere near what they need. Moving 45,000 cfs is moving about 500 times more water than moving 45,000 gpm.

Would that be misleading data considering it is an outlier when compared to the rainfall nearby?
Not really. It helps illustrate the potential for that type of accumulation. Suggesting it is only going to happen in Port Lavaca would be misleading. It may happen anywhere along the TX coast from Corpus to Houston.

One interesting thought they discussed in the possibility of the storm developing a strong upper level "anticyclone" that could possibly break though the pressure ridge existing inland and not stall out at all.
I think that would be exceedingly rare...but a welcome outcome for LA.

Check out the Grey one. That must be the current PEEJ forecast.

It would be if there were only one second in one minute. But there aren't. There are 60 seconds in one minute. 45000 cubic feet per SECOND versus 45,000 gallons per MINUTE. Those pesky units!
Oddly enough, 60 times exactly 7.48052 is around 500. Huh.
Granted, NOLA doesn't need the full 45000 cfs in temporary pumps, but the point was the scale of what NOLA needs is WAY beyond renting a few big pumps.

Not BP! I'm out here right now and they honestly aren't even thinking about it.

Rainfall from Harvey is already starting in LA south of I-10. Pretty heavy storms stretch from Houma to Beaumont.

this was allison in case anyone's forgotten
I was there. The storm came in at night while my gf and I were out at a bar. The rain was coming down so hard that the streets had 3-4 feet of water in less than an hour or two. We ended up sleeping in a 7-11 parking lot that night because we couldn't get home.
I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, owned a house in Gulf Shores and I've been through many tropical systems in both places. To this day, I've never seen so much water coming out of the sky as that night in Houston.
