What's the laws on harvesting the Spermaceti, fat, meat, bones, and whatever if a beached whale dies? Who can stake a claim on it? Can the state auction it off to the highest bidder?

Seems like a waste to let it rot. Would this lead to people figuring out how to beach a whale and make it look "natural"?

Those aren’t “beached” ... those are hunted and hearded towards shore before slaughter.

If it is protected you can not posses any body parts, bones, feathers, etc. Indians get their American Eagle parts from a Federal depository. The Feds get them from confiscations and mortality. I would like to find a big hunk of spermaceti as it is very expensive. People find it on beaches sometimes.

Boats and shite at night, then you go out in the morning and say "oh look, a beached whale". Beaching a whale isn't the hard part, its doing it on the sly that is.

Right, it seems like a waste to not harvest it. The state should sell the beached whale to the highest bidder so that it can be turned into a product.

Since they are protected, I would assume the state takes ownership of the whale. They can then abandon it, sell it, or dispose of it at their discretion.
