I am supposed to be a direct descendant of one of the 25 surety Barons of the Magna Carta, Robert De Vere Earl of Oxford. I am literally a Magna Carta Baron as defined by the National Society of Magna Carta Dames and Barons. My fraternal grandmother was into genealogy and traveled all over the world "collecting trophies," as my father called it. He thought the chances of actually connecting us to De Vere were almost zero (as do I), but we played along for my grandmother's sake. She paid for a lifetime membership for all her children and grandchildren. I still get newsletters and such every month from them. It is actually hilarious, but it does make me think of here fondly every time I get one.
Maybe I should call up Harvard and lay claim: "I want my daddy's records!"

If you're not a big fan of freedome and democracy and natural rights, I can see why you'd think this, but the Magna Carta is the GOAT of legal documents. Incredibly powerful and influential on world history.

Amazing how far the UK has moved away from that though.
Harvard needs to sell it back to them.

He sold me the Shroud of Turin.
I thought it strange it had BBQ stains and said "Eat at Bubbas" along the neck seam, but I'm no religious scholar

Harvard buys it on the cheap and then Harvard claims it’s an original.
That’s not Accurate.

David Carpenter, a medieval historian at King’s College London, was browsing Harvard’s digital archive when he came across an image of HLS MS 172. As he recalls in a video, he thought it looked like a “1300 original.” Carpenter contacted Nicholas Vincent, a medieval historian at the University of East Anglia, for a second opinion

It was sold and bought with the understanding it was a copy. Except it ain't.
Seller “I have an original reissue of the Magna Carta”
Harvard “that looks like a copy, but let me go call my buddy who is an expert on magna carts reissues”
“He says it’s a copy, best I can do is 27.50”
