St. Marvin of Granby, pray for us.

Yes. He was also an air force vet. Hard to believe he had a 100% rate of no injuries just by pure accident.
Most air force personnel have one range day in basic training and never touch a weapon again.

Had these tanks ruptured and exploded, anyone within one-half mile (800 m) of the explosion could have been endangered", the sheriff's department said.
I just want to say that this quote is complete and utter bullshite. A half mile is a long, long fricking way to be from an explosion. 100% hyperbolic.

The documentary about him on Prime is basically a documentary on premeditation.
I mean, is there a non-premeditated way to weld a tractor into a veritable tank

Marvin wasn't a reasonable man. I'd wager that 99% of the posters of the OT would have hated the man's guts if he were their neighbor.

Hot damn. That’s some Merica shite there:salute:

Obviously the half-mile thing is exaggerated, but the point is people were near the propane tank that he shot many times at trying to make it explode. Of course not everyone within a half a mile would've been injured or killed, but the people who were close to it likely would have.
Btw I didn't post that quote for the "half a mile" thing. I posted it for the "he was shooting the tank" thing. But go ahead and ignore that some psycho was trying to blow up a huge propane tank and harm innocent people, I guess.

so what’s the consensus on this dude? reasonable man pushed over the edge by “the system?” or maniac on a mission just looking for an excuse to go Rambo on the town?

he put a lot of innocent people in harm's way that day
Nope.

Didn’t he shoot a gun at responding officers?
Yes.
So he shot at responding officers, but didn't put innocent people in harm's way? Or are you lumping the police officers on duty that day in with the mayor/local government people he hated? He also shot at them while driving around. He also tried to demolish occupied buildings. Which, you know...puts anyone around "in harm's way."

I legit think it's both. His local government fricked him over, no question. But he was also an unhinged lunatic.

gotcha, I remember the incident, just never delved into it for details, there’s usually more to the story than meets the eye

That's nice. Someone with no weapons training at all could have shot someone in the scenario he was facing if they were able to actually load the weapon and fire it. He was obviously trying not to hit someone.

Nah, there are full documentaries that cover the City's version of the story in an effort to make themselves look blameless. What I shared covers the full story.

Probably not a good idea to agitate someone you believe to be an unhinged lunatic who is just keeping to himself and not bothering anybody.

I'd say it's both.
On one hand I get it and it's 100% bad arse, but on the other hand I don't think he's an American hero because he did some bad things that can't be justified simply by saying the government was screwing him over.
People want to overlook it because it's a cool story but even though he didn't kill anybody, he would have been perfectly fine with killing people. Blowing up the propane tank and shooting at cops has been touched on, but he also bulldozed buildings and a library that had people, including kids, in it when he was headed towards it. The video leaves that out obviously.
People on this board and certain posters in this thread have talked about people that commit suicide are cowards. Pretty sure fatkid went on a rant on the M/TV board about an actor that committed suicide being a coward even though he can;t relate to the mental illness that particular person was going through. Yet this guy gets a pass because, you know, it's a cool story.
I've watched two documentaries on it now and I get it, he was pushed over the edge and he did something pretty wild/cool that a lot of people wish they could do. I mean who doesn't want to give a big F you to the government and bulldoze buildings? But that doesn't mean that what he was right.
