I hate to be that guy (who an I kidding, I LOVE to be that guy ) but Technically, America's birthday is July 2nd, 1776. That's when the continental Congress voted on, and passed, the Lee Act that stated the American colonies should separate from Great Britain. July 4th was the day they announced it to the world with the Declaration of Independence. But the actual separation was on the 2nd.....

Its a little known fact of history.

Another is both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on the 4th of July.

Technically, Buddy Bolden started Jazz and technically, Ike Turner had the first RnR record. But Louis Armstrong & Elvis will always be Kings for so charismatically delivering their music to the world, while Bolden & Turner rightfully remain footnotes.

But the signing ceremony was on August 2nd….then some others signed up until January of 1777. The actual document was never sent to King George III

Happy birthday, America
It's the Fourth of July
I get to wake up in your freedom
But sometimes I wonder why
Seems like everybody's pissin'
On the red, white, and blue
Happy birthday, America
Whatever's left of you

Of the same year:1826, the 50th anniversary of the date.

John Adams’ last words were “Thomas Jefferson still survives.” except he didn’t, having died five hours earlier at his home, Monticello, in Virginia.

That’s what makes it so impressive.

“The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty - John Adams

Additionally, while the final language was penned between the 2nd and 4th of July, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was not signed until August 1776. Most of the signatures were collected on Aughts 10th.

Let us celebrate the long steeped traditions of this beautiful day.

Maybe one of the the greatest intros for a sports moment ever.
