Saw him a year or so ago at The Municipal in Shreveport- I don't know if he was sick or just frickED UP, but the show was awful. Opener sucked terribly and played forever, then he shows up and you couldn't hardly hear his vocals (probably on purpose), and between songs he just rambled ON AND ON AND ON about nothing, then rambled on about people getting annoyed about how much he was rambling. It was not his finest moment.

ETA: But Happy Birthday DY

saw him at John T Flores country Store in their backyard stage. One of the top concerts I've ever seen. also saw him his one and only time at the Houston Rodeo. Entertainers are supposed to be off the stage by 10:30sh at the rodeo. Dwight said screw that and jammed until almost midnight. Rodeo brass was none too pleased and he's never been back.

All in all I've seen him at least 10 times - never a bad show.

And yes, as mentioned earlier - his acoustic album is fantastic.

RIPIP Doyle. He was a simple man and didn’t ask for much. People always came at him when he was hurtin.

Probably didn’t get his attention. That bald headed dude with his hip movements had top tier women lined up. The show I was at as recent as 2019 had a crowd full of young hot as frick girls in cowboy hats losing their minds over him.

Dwight is one of my heroes. One of my favorite songwriters of all time. And charisma that can’t be faked. He is the real deal.

Happy Birthday!

Plus he did construction. Worked with his hands. Do you know how important that is? Not to mention he had a heartfelt speech about wanting to spend more time with Frankie and his momma.

Lots of mentions of Streets of Bakersfield and Buck Owens who he did the song with. Y'all should check out Dwight's album "Dwight Sings Buck". It's Dwight doing all Buck Owens covers. Great album.

Also, The Newton Boys was another great movie he did with Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke and Skeet Ulrich.

I could sing you word for word every song on his This Time album and I haven’t listened to it in 20 years.

All time favorite country singer.

All the movie references listed, but y'all should check him out in Panic Room. Not a great plot, but he plays an excellent villain.

He use to play in Bakersfield a lot.
Use to drive 2 hours from L.A. to Bakersfield a few times to see him perform live.
He did some Buck Owens songs and really made them his song.
He is apart of the Bakersfield sound.

Happy Birthday to Dwight.
