Its legit. I actually knew her when she was in middle school (via 4-H, she was a year older than me) and she was as country as the rest of us south Jawjuh folks. I saw her up at UGA singing for some obscure group probably 25 years ago and couldnt believe it was the same person. Great voice.

I am white too but am old and grew up in the poor part of town so race was less of an issue. Hard for folks to believe today but being Irish, Polish, or Jewish was worse than being black or brown.

For those hating her voice to you not like the regional sound?

It’s hard for me to describe, but her voice has a particular “whining” sound to it. It’s almost like she has a little bit of tornado siren in her voice.

I’ve never listened to it much, but I would say that you’re probably correct.

Good guess, I grew up with hill people, yodeling was common.

Why this global Irish singer was so popular among my people (young and old). Her voice alone is sexy to Scots Irish still with old country ties and traditions.

Old Celtic meets modern rock.

I received the highest grade given in my freshman English comp class for a piece I wrote on how fricking terrible she is. It was so well received the prof made me read it aloud for my fellow pupils.

I think the only thing worst than eternity in hell would be eternity with Jennifer Nettles on loud speaker.

I can assure you it's not. When she talks, she is SE GA to the core.

And your point? The woman can sing her arse off. You don't have to like the particular type of music that she sings, but, but talent is talent, regardless of genre.

Get over yourself.
