Fun fact

This guy opened a bar in Santa Fe NM that which his son now runs. It’s in the Square off San Fransisco street.

Funny, he didn’t say that about any of the other branches.

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!"

Quote from Eleanor Roosevelt.

Happy Birthday Marine Corps.

The OP wasn’t a dick at all and simply said happy birthday. Don’t be petty just because you didn’t have the sack for the Marines.

ETA: Happy Birthday fellow Devils

this isn't a quality of life thread this is a thankful thread.

I am thankful to having been a Marine and I am thankful for the Marines who have served before and since my enlistment.

Forever bless Tun Tavern, Philadelphia that gave birth to the best military force in American history.

My dad, Marine WWII, Korea and Vietnam veteran, passed in August. He always held a USMC birthday party with 60 to 100 in attendance. This is the first year without one. Semper Fi Dad.

This old generation of Marines is a unique breed. I was lucky to interview my Dad’s best friend’ dad for a HS senior project almost 10 years ago. He left Cleveland, Georgia at 18 years old to go to boot camp and was in Vietnam 60 days later. His reason for joining was, “well, I wasn’t gonna let them tell me I had to, so I went on my own”. When we finished he told me he hadn’t talked about many of those things in a long time and was confident he never would. If you ever get a chance to talk and document what these men experienced, it’s worth the time.

RIP Mr. Wlliam “Bill” Dorsey

Well that’s because none of the rest of us needed our ego stroked constantly.
