So I was taking my 30 year old sister shopping ... She is severely handicap ... And we have a wheelchair accessible van with an automatic ramp ....

Well of course there is no van accessible handicap parking because they are all taken ...... By old people

Is there some law that says when you get old you can just automatically get access to handicap parking ... Just because you are a little slower and have a few more body aches ....

Its f***** crazy that I have to drive around the parking lot for half an hour because I need the van accessible handicap parking spot ... So I waitfor some 70 year old to walk to their car unload their s*** and take 15 min to back out .... I'm sorry you could have done the same thing two slots down in regular parking ...

We need two categories ...

Old and shouldn't be driving parking

And

Handicap parking

When there is no close parking, I just park way out.

I figure the universe is telling me I need more exercise. So I walk.

Why wouldn’t you have done that? You’d a been halfway through shopping instead of waiting for an entitled spot.

It’s not like your sister would have had to walk any further. She was rolling no matter what.

Each public parking area is required by ADA to have a certain number of van accessible parking spots. These are based on the number of standard ADA spots which are based on number of total spots which are based on building type/local laws/etc. But I digress.

Point is that van accessible ADA spots should be restricted to those people who actually need the spots to utilize a wheelchair.

Just park up on the curb, like the fire trucks do.

Consider this: if there's old geezers' cars in the parking lot, their annoying arse might also be waiting for you inside the business! That was an early warning! GTFO while you can, take your business elsewhere!

Surprised the old dinosaur was able to find a handicapped spot, usually the fatties beat'm to the punch.

Hopefully you weren’t bitching about it when you were with your sister. If so, you probably made her feel bad for having to wait on a spot.

HC tag abuse is pervasive. It’s impossible that so many people are truly handicapped. Drive around Nola and in some areas 1/3 of the cars have a tag.

Can wheelchairs only go a certain distance? Seems that with that van you could park in a regular spot and still get to where you're going easily without losing your mind about the lack of an available handicapped spot.

Drop her off and pick her up right in front of the store. Park in the back.

If he has a handicapped van with a special ramp...he needs the extra side space to be able to use the ramp to get his sister into the van. Sure he can park where there are two spots open...but then he isn't guaranteed that spot on the side will still be open and then he won't be able to get his sister in the van when they are ready to leave.

You could have unloaded her at the front door and parked anywhere

It’s more annoying when you see perfectly capable 40-year-olds with the tags.

Don’t know if they’re borrowing it or what, but I want to beat them mercilessly

The probably have one for their fibromyalgia and social anxiety disorders that they need a service dog for.

What I dont understand is how these folks can walk around for 2 hours and fill up 2 carts with groceries on their EBT cards, but can't walk 60 seconds across the parking lot.

Someone should do a fricking study on that.
