The funny thing is that it was working at the port as a kid where slaves were traded that made him an abolitionist later in life. So I’m not sure what they are on about.

They didn’t. The cast is diverse. There are white, black, Hispanic, and I think Phillipa Soo is half Chinese. Lin Manuel Miranda is of Puerto Rican decent and he plays Alexander Hamilton.
