Have any of you ever had to get a vehicle fixed from hail damage ?

This storm came up without warning and fricked my hood / roof up, probably has over a 1,000 pea size dents.

Do these local shops do any good, or should I take it to a dealership ?

Omar just knocked on the door and says his company can accept my insurance pmt without deductible.

Has 15K miles on it

Get your insurance on it. It might be totaled.

Had a bad storm here. My FIL's one year old F150 was fixed. Something like $30k in repairs.

My 8 year old car was totaled. Got 4x more than the dealer was offering as a trade-in.

The importance of having a garage in these times is paramount.

I'm 99% sure that's an aluminum hood on that F150. Those don't PDR as easily as steel. I wouldn't trust Omar on that one.

Run it through insurance since they may just replace and repaint the hood.

It's parked in front of the garage, but I needed to move a bunch of stuff for it to fit.

I checked the weather before I went to bed and it said 15% chance of light showers.

NO Warning - had I known I would have pulled it in

How did you not see this coming? Hail is to DFW what rain is to IAH.
Reminds me of the rental car return in OKC; 50+ cars being returned, all with brand new hail damage one week.

Well I hope you get it all figured out. Insurance is the biggest joke in the world, so good luck with that.

I used to work with a guy who bought a brand new hail damaged car from the dealership for roughly 30% off. He said he didn't mind the dents since it was just a work car. Then he brought it to the PDR place and they successfully removed about 90% of the dents. There was still a few dents on the roof and hood but not really noticeable unless you looked real close. It seemed like a good deal to me.

In this situation I might consider taking the insurance money and leaving the dents. Especially if its 30k like some others have mentioned.

its very funny that this is being said in a claim thread on comprehensive coverage that he probably pays less than $300 a year for that's going to pay out a multi thousand dollar hail claim among hundreds/thousands of other vehicles in a centralized area.

The one time I had a car fixed due to hail damage I was surprised to find out that my comprehensive coverage covered it. Only cost me 100 bucks to get the car fixed!

File with insurance soon, wait for the fall to repair. A lot of the dents will go away during the heat of the summer and the repair should be less money or at least the PDR people may not be as busy.
