Had the money used to remove the statues gone to S&WB

Would NOLA be in as deep of shite as they are right now?
Statues don't flood homes, they don't ruin cars, and they can't kill people because they don't move.
It's costing $7M just to have emergency generators.

On cost of 26 emergency generators: about $7 million. May "force us to say certain other projects are not getting done," Landrieu said.

I wonder how much those generators would cost if the contract wasn't going to Mitch's buddy? $800k?

2.1 million into a special project to just clean the trash out the suctions would have prevented a lot of flooding.IMO

It's not about that. That misses the point.
Mitch proved with the statues that he is capable in a couple of months of procuring a massive amount of funds and coordinating a massive effort involving police, fireman, and private contractors to get a project done in record time without much support from anyone else. He proved he could do that.
And then he turned around last week and cried about not having the funds or the ability to clean the catch basins or fix the energy station wiring in over 7 years.
frick that piece of double talking establishment political shite. He proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the reason the pumps failed was at best his administrations gross negligence in refusing to address the pump and drainage problems and a complete breakdown of communication and lies from every subordinate at the SWB. And at worst, and much more
likely, it wasn't gross negligence it was a willfull and knowing gambling game that he played and lost. Had that rain even not happened Mitch would've skated through the end of his mayoral term and the flooding would've been the next guys problem. He 100% knew and understood this and he sold out the needed infastructure improvements for his own political gain hoping he'd get out the office before it all came crashing down. And he almost made it.

WTF kind of generator costs $270,000 to RENT?
Posted on 8/13/17 at 10:52 am to TigerTatorTots
The kind that is owned by your relative
Posted on 8/13/17 at 10:57 am to Pico de Gallo
I'm not sure, but Boh Bros. can answer that given 8 years and a reduced $14 million dollar rate.

Fair point but it is not just about the money.
How much time was spent, hours..days?..., dealing with statutes? Planning, press conferences, security, political capital, etc.?
And just MONTHS before the start of hurricane season and just 6 months after the Baton Rouge area floods?
Dickhead and crew wasted resources for minor political points and are DAMN lucky a strong tropical depression isn't in the Gulf approaching NOLA. Even better yet, what about a storm that cause the BR flood?

Nah
Removing statues means more than people's homes in a social justice utopia; pretty soon everyone will take a shite outside

Told you guys when it first started in NO, that this was coming to a city near you.
These losers(majority are white), have nothing else to do, but harass cities and residents over f'in statues.
Thankfully college should be in session soon(or is), and it will cut down on some of it.

In a way, it's really a physical representation of the SJW movement in general.
Eliminating microaggressions and protecting people's feelings is far more important than protecting people from actual physical harm that exists in reality.

If the mayor had put as much effort into doing his job, into running the city, into providing a good pumping, system and into furnishing better police protection; then NO would be better off.

No. $2 wouldn't even pay to repair a single rotor. (Siemens wanted that to repair just one and said repair would only last two years)
