Why would they have spent that money any better than the millions they already had at their disposal?
Both issues are indicative of the real problem. Crony capitalism cost everyone eventually. It's really disheartening on so many levels.

This is the point! It is all about priorities. Maybe it would have gotten one turbine going and saved a few more properties.

I suspect the problem in this case has less to do with money and more to do with the nature of governmental jobs. If I'm right, throwing more money at it would have meant more money wasted.
