Trust my guy, keeps his plane in same hanger as rock and is a commercial pilot also.

It is practical for the plane type it is designed for. I’m saying it isn’t practical to design a parachute system for every SEL plane.

Cirrus has a high accident rate because that’s the plane that guys like me fly. I had 250 hours when I bought my Cirrus, and started flying all over the country. Obviously that’s riskier than a guy with 15,000 hours and military training. Don’t blame the plane; it’s a very safe plane.

Very true.

What kind of plane does Rock have?
Posted on 2/3/21 at 7:22 pm to Penrod
parachute wasn’t going to save you, bro, false sense of security, doubt a wing fell off either, guessing engine failure and out of options, not criticizing, but his experience level was marginal, particularly spread out over the time span

Engine failure at night is one of my worst fears. I remember that thought in the back of my head constantly during my first night solo..particularly long distance solo to natchez. There is nothing out there and you can't tell the difference between a field or a forest until it's too late

Did Rock grow up at the house with a tennis court and a big Santa during Christmas on their namesake street off of Maplewood Dr. between Post Oak and Hazel St? I knew Ashley back in the day—sister or niece? His dad (maybe uncle), whoever was the architect, built/developed my parent’s house. Is the “Bice” from his law firm Jamie Bice? He walked on at LSU football back in the day. Sorry for the rambling. RIP.

Was informed there was a mayday early this am. Certainly don’t want to spread any rumors. Will definitely clarify if I am informed there was not. Sad situation either way. Don and Rock were great people and will be missed!

Yes, it was his parents house.

Same family.
Sister.
Father Joe (deceased) and Uncle Tony had real estate and companies and were involved with home construction.
Jay Bice and Mr. Palermo are partners in the law firm of Veron, Bice, Palermo, and Wilson.
Jamie Bice was an attorney with the VB before becoming a Lake Charles City Court Judge.
Back in the day he was awarded an LSU Football scholarship.

It wasn’t his plane.
I asked what kind of plane did/does Rock have in the hanger with your friend

Thanks for the reply. My brother knew Lance back in the day.

IIIRC he wasn't a walkon. He was a pretty highly recruited defensive back.

The term has always been associated with the V-tail Beechcraft Bonaza, or "forked tail docter killer". The reputaion was earned by the belief whether true or not that doctors could afford a plane faster and more complex than was wise based on their flying experience, and this lead to a lot of accidents.
Once did a high speed field pass and steep climb out with my instructor in a V35. Lovely airplane but wouldn't try that again. The V tails had a different envelope along the edges and you had to be well aware.

There was a Baton Rouge V35 owner that did that as his signature takeoff maneuver, last time he did it was his last, he didn’t take into account it was a unusually hot, and humid day. Seems like that was back in the early 2000s.

Awful! Prayers for victims and family. A reminder that life is precious. Both men were valued members of their community. Without a doubt their death leaves a huge hole. Was particularly touched Mr. Palermo served the Lake Charles area during the terrible aftermath of that hurricane. Well done good and faithful servant. Go rest high on that mountain friend.
