What happens, happens but I will never forget the kindness from the people on this message board. God Bless all of you and the family can't thank you enough for your generosity. I'm sorry for David's and Sonya's rantings and confusion. They are really devastated and not thinking clearly. I'm not trying to make excuses, just trying to help you understand.
Can you verify that they lived in a house with a basement and had a 81,000 mortgage left in May?

This is the story, or something close...
Dude is a junkie and his wife was also...but she had some health issues outside of that, had knee surgery, and died. As a junkie will do dude went off the deep end and as soon as fellow junkies in the family find out there is probably some unused pills about the place its a gold rush to get the woman's pain meds. AT some point one of those junkies knew about TD and old dude's posting to it....found a computer signed in to TD...mine usually stays signed in along with my phone and ipad...and set up a GFM page on the off chance that it might get a couple hundred dollars in donations....cause a couple of hundred dollars to a junkie is some serious drug money....and here we are. The old girl died, and old boy has been here a long time...but its obvious there is more than a couple of junkies at play here....and if you ain't ever dealt with a junkie you can't put anything past them...

I was laid off work for quite a while and we almost lost everything. I recently found work for a decent company with average benefits but we never invested in life insurance. I have about 500 dollars to my name and her family has nothing.

To be fair, with Covid I’m sure we all assumed it was Covid related. Lots of people have been laid off this year, so that’s where my mind went.
Yea I figured as much. Honestly, this GFM was a perfect storm of timing with COVID and it being the holiday season so people were feeling extra generous.

I didn’t get a refund because the money means so much to me. I got a refund because every refund NOT initiated likely goes to someone possibly ODing and dying.
The folks in here still talking about the girls and getting in contact with someone to give them a Christmas are well intended, but sorry I’m out.
I agree with all of this. Usually, in situations like this with addicts and money involved the children are an afterthought and will not benefit from it at all.
It's a sad situation all around.

Correction: Two story home, with the main rooms on the second floor and a basement
That’s a nice home to almost be paid off and not have a car in a family of 5

From 10/31/2020:
From 9/2/2020:
Okay, so as of 9/2 he was gainfully employed and had been making good money. If laid off at the beginning of October, and he was supposedly with a good company, then he would have had benefits through the remainder of the month, and unemployment. He found a job pretty quickly and, for someone that has opened up about being an ex-drug addict on here, none of his posts mention anything about financial struggles in that timeframe.
quote:
I recently got laid off and spent the last three weeks searching the r8ght job. I never left the house except for the actual interview. I used several web based job search sites and had several interviews until I accepted the job that was right for me.
Indeed was a good site and I also used the Alabama.gov site that helps folks on unemployment find work. There are a lot of services I didn't care for. I would see the job posting and skip the service and go straight to the company's website to apply. I finally found one that met my salary needs last week. The internet has made job searches easy and without going in person to all of those places like I did fresh out of school.
From 9/2/2020:
quote:
When my boss took out the covid loan we were working mandatory overtime with no restrictions on how many hours. Work as many as you can handle he said. I logged 84 hours first week and 81 second week. One he'll of a two week pay check. Liked to have killed me but I looked at it as a blessing.

Either CD totally became a different person after the death and once on drugs.. OR he hasn’t been on TD at all following his wife’s death and this has been Sonya all along.
He may not even know she’s doing this.

I am in no way implying this is the case this time but with $20K they'll have enough money for everyone in the family to stay high for a couple of months...and chances are the kids are or will be junkies too....its how it works, sadly, so the kids will probably get something out of the scam....it wont be what they need but what the fmily wants them to have...junkies gonna junkie....
