Generally close handed is either in anger (abuse) or self defense

to Palantir’s point. i should’ve specified more in my initial response. A close handed form of discipline is not acceptable in any location, public or private.
Not to the face anyway. Have to punch the solar plexus. No visible bruising...

Does anyone have a link for us non-TikTockers?
TIA

of course not. i was taught to never under any circumstances to strike a woman. Children need discipline, but there is a fine line between discipline and abuse.
That is my clarified opinion before SS, the felon, attempts to paint me as an abusive parent any further.

I'm not arguing that point. I'm arguing your dumb point that its' your business to arbitrate normal stuff like the OP, to abuse.

yeah, i don’t even know how to respond to that PawPaw.

Your penchant to argue for absolutely no reason is mind numbing, so I'll leave you to it.

A nice jab to the gut = 1 hour of timeout. Let the kid decide...

i got my fair share of whoopings as a kid. and i'll be the first to say, i deserved everyone one of them. i was/am the definition of stubborn, to the point where i have to learn a hard lesson before changing my behavior. regardless, i knew my parents loved me and i was in the wrong.
as i got older, i also got disciplined in the form of having things taken away, grounded, and some fairly creative jobs/chores assigned to me by Pops. examples:
here's a massive 6x3x4 compost pile - i want you to dig it out and then put it back. compost piles need to be turned over regularly to be effective.
here's a pile of 100 used bricks. i might repurpose them one day. i want you to take this mallet and chisel and clean off the mortar. don't break any of the bricks or i'll find another job for you.
it's been at least a month since our vehicles had their tires rotated and the oil changed. if you want to go anywhere this weekend safely, i'm going to need you to take care of that today.
our 1 acre lawn lot has a lot of weeds in it and the weed n feed hasn't worked this year. here's a contractor sized garbage bag, fill it up with weeds before sun down. don't you want the neighbors to talk about how beautiful our lawn is?

My dad never whipped me. The worse punishment was knowing mom was the spanker. I hated disappointing her and knew she didn't like punishing me and the sisters. It was pretty effective just by knowing I had to face her with dad looking on.

opposite for us. mom wielded that power. "you know your Dad gets home in an hour, right?" fuuuuuck.
Posted on 6/28/22 at 10:52 am to Klark Kent
Dad played football at Baylor. I wanted none of his big ole man hands.

Pleasantly surprised you’re the product of a 2 parent household with all that animosity you hold KK.
Posted on 6/28/22 at 10:55 am to SuperSaint
fair enough. but my point has been further clarified.
thanks for the assist, SS, the felon.
still married today and world class grandparents. retired and living the good life. great examples of how to work hard, provide for your children, and stay out of jail..

i'm not opposed to some criminal justice reform, as long as we keep the worst of society locked up.

While in prison, when you played house, did you volunteer for the female role?
