since blacktips probably account for the most attacks in florida they would be protecting you

Not just Black Tips either. Hammerheads really love Sting-rays, which are known to nail waders when stepped on or messed with. A gigantor Hammerhead was caught down near Port Aransas, TX a while back and although they tried to release it after it was landed, it died. They cleaned it and it was full of Sting-rays. Not sure how they cope with the poison in the barbs of those nasty frickers but I guess it doesn't phase them.

I remember a similar video from several years back. I believe that one had more than one hammerhead. Black tips seem to be a staple of the larger hammerhead shark's diet and they tend to follow the black tip's migration.
Great post during Shark Week, thanks!

First instinct would be bull shark, but then I remember that most of the attacks on the Atlantic side are blacktips

along the gulf coast most definitely and the attacks are much worse. Bulls usually kill or take a limb.

Yeh a lot of the attacks result in very minor injuries.

I think bull sharks are easily the most dangerous in the Gulf.

Google machine says world-wide it's white sharks, tiger sharks, then bull sharks.

Live baiting 60lb blacktips to huge hammerheads with a 130 seems like a nice little way to pass a Saturday.

I've got a great shark book my 2.5 year old and I look at most nights before he goes to bed (no nightmares yet that I know of). It is from the late 80s/early 90s, so it may be out of date, but it said most considered the tiger shark to be the most dangerous to man based on proximity to swimmers and the severity of their bites when they do attack

Tigers have probably been blamed for some attacks done by bull sharks. I read a book years ago, before bulls really started getting recognition, that blamed most attacks in tropical waters on tiger sharks.

Great White's get all the pub because they are huge and the attacks are so violent.

Bull sharks are probably the most persistent during an attack.

I wouldn't want to encounter any of them while swimming

I do think that line of thinking is changing. Bull sharks live in tropical waters and probably have more interaction with swimmers than the other 2.

Yeah, that book was from the 80s/90s but it did acknowledge almost word for word what you said about tigers probably being blamed for a lot of bull shark attacks

It may be the same book I read one that had every shark attack documented by either the Navy or the International shark attack file. I think it was published in the early 80's
