Probably because after 2 years, it isn't worth any more hassle.
Think of it more like traffic court. When you get a ticket, you have the right to go before the court and argue against your guilt in the matter. If you know you were speeding or thought it wasn't worth your time, you just pay the ticket and go about your day. That's what he did.

Not surprisingly, this whole hubbub is being pushed while several political action groups are promoting bills around the country to weaken licensure.

No, I'll think of it like it actually is.

You're right, this is what he'd s doing now.

You can be fined in Louisiana if you try to pass as an engineer.
The guy is an engineer.

The man was also told to stop referring himself using the word “engineer”, despite having a degree in electrical engineering from Sweden.
Oregon fined this guy for what amounts to not having a licence to do math.
quote:
According to the Board, Järlström had no right to criticize the length of yellow lights and talk about his ideas with “members of the public” because he’s not an Oregon-licensed engineer.
According to Oregon, you have to have their permission to do math.

No, he's working as a front for political groups trying to reduce licensure requirements for engineers now.

By law, he is most certainly not.

Do tell what your degree is in. Did it come with a lollipop?

So you're not even going to touch the fact that they fined him for one sentence? I'll take your silence as agreement.

Huh? Why would I need to touch it? He broke the law. He paid the fine. He won't win his lawsuit. Touch that.

If you agree that that one sentence breaks the law, frankly you're not worth having a discussion with.

Chemical Engineer. I've practiced in mostly in LA and Texas. No license, because I am not doing work for the public; you don't need a licence to do work for a private company nor to do math.

but there is a well-defined procedure for arguing against board findings. He elected to forego those procedures. As such, he relinquished his legal right to argue it.
that's insane if he's not part of their little syndicate
so by simply existing, he gives up all normal and proper due process rights afforded him? c'mon
even if that is how Oregon has skewed their system, then THAT becomes the story. you'r basically creating governmental licensure gestapos that can fine people at will and prevent them from exercizing due process to defend themselves. that's insanity. legit fascism

It's like taking a small claims case straight to the Supreme Court. It just doesn't work like that.
nope
it's nothing like that
i'm going to also turn you into the LSBA and AG because you just practiced law without a license

Jester is looking like a moron in this thread.

licensure is almost always terrible
as i said in my thread on this yesterday
quote:
it's just a way to increase the barrier to entry, typically due to political pressure from professional groups to limit their competition
government loves it b/c it creates an ally for more government (when called upon) and it gets to spend that sweet, sweet stolen booty

If you have a business card with "Engineer" on it, you are breaking the law.

It does break the law, though. If you want to argue the merits of the law, fine, but the law is very clear.

1. No I didn't
2. I didn't say "I am a lawyer."
Would you hire a lawyer who can't pass the bar exam?
