Camera tickets are a $cam
Got one a couple weeks ago and just threw it away. Bring it bitches
Yep. I got one about five years ago and immediately threw it away. Nothing at all ever came of it.

Would you hire a lawyer who can't pass the bar exam?
there are a number of paralegals in certain fields who i'd hire to rep me long before their boss (obviously, if it were legal)

licensure is an expansion of authoirty by the state and the state doesn't like to rule that it lacks the power to do things
that's how authoritarianism works

It does break the law, though. If you want to argue the merits of the law, fine, but the law is very clear.
Can you link me to the exact part of the law you feel he broke?

Are you a doctor when you finish medical school (answer is no)? Having a degree in engineering is just the first step. You still have to work as an intern for four years and then pass the PE Exam. I've run across several "engineers" with a degree that can't pass the PE... and the public is safer without those guys practicing.

Looking at the rules posted by LAPELS:
Let's go through it piece by piece.
He didn't do that.
Didn't do that either.
So what did he do?
quote:
A person shall be construed to practice or offer to practice engineering: who practices in any discipline of the profession of engineering; or who, by verbal claim, sign, advertisement, letterhead, card, or in any other way represents himself to be a professional engineer; or who represents himself as able to perform; or who does perform any engineering service or work or any other professional service designated by the practitioner or recognized by educational authorities as engineering. The practice of engineering shall not include the work ordinarily performed by a person who himself operates or maintains machinery or equipment.

A fricking emoticon? What a not shocking response.

Exactly. I graduated with several who somehow graduated at the top of our class but were never able to pass the FE exam, much less the PE.

Sure you did. Several at the top of class but couldn't pass the FE?

I passed the FE without studying a day in my life and halfway through the test I found out I had a job already lined up.
I don't have my PE. In my lab of 20+ year EE vets in Telecom, none hold PE's.
Again in short, EE's rarely need a frickin PE no matter how much you don't want to believe it.

He didn't do that.
He literally said "I am an engineer."

So, "I am an engineer and here is some engineering analysis I performed" doesn't meet that?

In the article, it says that he apparently did claim he was an engineer.

The man was also told to stop referring himself using the word “engineer”,

HE didn't say he's a professional, or licensed. You said he clearly broke the law. I saw you're wrong.

Nope, he did it for free in his spare time and didn't use it in any formal fashion. Just like you wouldn't get in trouble for doing your homework for school.

Absolutely, LSU had gotten bad about the value of homework scores at that point. Quite a few people were passing around solutions manuals, copying the problems, and bolstering their grades with 100% on homework. However, that ultimately led to them not actually understanding most of the material.

Oh yea, that 5% really ,mattered. Not to mention if they can't pass the FE, they aren't doping well on their tests.

Yet top of class. OK guy.

That's good, because EE's have a piss poor pass rate for both the FE and PE.

Ok. Keep whining on behalf of some guy that is unwilling to demonstrate his proficiency in the field.
