Something happened. Heard 4 gun shots as we live close by. Called 2nd district and they confirmed.

Goddammit... I've been drinking there for over a decade on a regular basis and never heard of any problems in that area... a few scuffles, sure... but never gunshots

Would hate to see that area get overrun by trash

More like the street behind George's and Rama. Apparently there is some sort of something going on back there.

BR is going to be a lost cause for a long time. Sad.

A few years ago, there was a string of car break-ins under the overpass... trash was coming from the other side of the interstate and smashing car windows and stealing stuff for a few months... it eventually stopped, but it's a good reminder that bad people don't live too far away

That can literally be said about the entire city

It used to not be this way. There was a clear delineation between bad and good parts of BR.

Yeah, but you'd have to go back to early 90's. Been rough for a long time now.

My entire childhood it wasn't this way. It changed right around mid 2005. Having trouble figuring out why, though.

There's about to be gunshots in my neighborhood if my neighbors don't turn the damn music down.

Probably an Italian mob shootout over the last meatball at Italian Pie

Majority of people say it's Katrina driven (2005), but I felt the city changed years before that

I'm talking like a mile or 2 close... the Garden District and the interstate act as a pretty decent buffer for the Perkins overpass, but shite seeps through from time to time

SE BR is pretty clear from the garbage other than Gardere... luckily for us, it generally stays away

It changed in terms of growth and didn't have the same feel, if that's what you mean. Crime wasn't nearly as impactful and wide spread prior to 2005.
