I watch the Oscars most of the time. Historically, the celebrity crowd doesn't really like political messages, though I'm sure with Trump in office that's going to go completely away.
I think we'll see more me too speeches than gun control speeches, with a couple of smarmy documentarians thrown in.
I also expect some big Oprah moment. I see more of their magazines promoting Oprah for president, and this is the best soap box to reach her like-minded would-be donors.

As for the "coincidence" of having a female issue promoted alongside another left wing brass ring, gun control, it's probably not a coincidence. Getting the women on board with your objectives is as old school marxist as it gets.
