in a lawless war zone.....AKA Baton Rouge.

Kip Holden's BRAVE program was working very well until SWB scrapped it her first week in office. Now we have an incompetent mayor-president and a clown for a police chief and the rest is history.

You will never find it in a history book, but this guy destroyed the country. He didn't start government overreach, but damn sure put it on steroids.

We absolutely do have too many people incarcerated for victimless crimes. The problem is that the sentences are harsher for crimes like possession than they are for burglary and violent crimes.

They’re all part of the same drug trade that breeds this criminal element. You want to make harsher penalties for harsher crimes, so be it. But lock them
All up and leave them there for their full sentence. And if your some casual bush smoker who happens to get caught with a dime bag, tough shite . Sit in the cell with some gang banger. Enough trying to sort out who is the most guilty.

Worried about prison overcrowding? Then build bigger prisons.

Not the answer… current inmates have better living quarters than most of the men and women serving in the armed forces. What is needed are MRE’s, tents, barbed wire, and hard labor sentences. Make a prison sentences so bad that nobody is willing to go back.

I’d like the loser that downvoted Tchefuncte Tiger’s comment about dismantling the BRAVE program to attempt to defend their position.

BRAVE went after the gangs. When that was ended the gangs got more and more out of control aided by Broome’s anti police rhetoric and attack against the old chief.
It’s gotten worse and worse as they chase and kill each other all over the parish.

HUGE apartment complexes going up.

To be fair, that complex they’re building is for seniors only. But yeah, that area is going downhill fast and I’m trying to convince the wife to move before it’s too late.

It is BLACK MALES (and occasionally black females) who victimize their own. That’s an important distinction that needs to be made every time we discuss this subject.

Unfortunately they will never say that. It’s easier to blame everybody and everything. They will never admit that the problem is the animals that’s the street and they won’t do anything about it. I am so glad I moved out of BTR 12 years ago

quit stalling and make St. George a city

You do know that Broomhilda personally has this stopped, tied up in a court case against the organizers, even though everything was done exactly according to the law. Her reason? St. George taxes go away, and she cannot keep the city of Baton Rouge afloat. She needs to keep using us in her Robin Hood recreation. It’s also why Lipsey is fighting it tooth and nail, he wants us to keep subsidizing his pompous arse. I’ve seen the financial cliff she will face without St. George and let’s just say, it IS possible for things to get worse. MUCH worse

So when St George incorporates, the shootings will automatically stop?

I'm not anti St George but it won't prevent crime spreading to that area unless they get their own police force and have a big time crackdown on it. That's a serious flaw in the plan imo.

It's been mentioned in this thread already but I remember when Plank Road was pretty decent. We lived off of Hooper in Central so that was pretty much the closest area of town with restaurants, shopping etc. I bowled in summer league at Plank and Airline in middle school. Parents used to drop us off in the parking lot.
