Really, it went off the rails after Karl Marx was born.

Ugly and Useless

What’s all that nasty bullshite called that we did in America from the 70s
It started with the Space race, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Mike Brady. Everything went to shite. Office buildings and homes built in the 60s and 70s are largely boring, at best, downright ugly as shite at worst.

That simplistic POS is considered a work of art and sold for big money.
It's a box with glass walls.

Frank Lloyd Wright
I like a lot of Wright's stuff although I am too tall for most of later home designs.
There is one in Ohio that was designed for a guy my height and it looks a bit odd compared to the typical FLLW Usonian house.
I actually prefer his earlier Prairie style homes like the Robie House vs the Usonian's.

Apparently the fricktards who designed that were unaware the Byzantine architecture doesn't include minarets.

Damn you Mike Brady!
It goes way back before the space race, though. Started in Europe w/ a couple of architects who thought "adornments" were a wasted and were in love with the idea of "modern," supposedly utilitarian design.

The Byzantine example has added minarets - not part of original. The mid-century modern example is in downtown Palm Springs.

In the architectural world, it's referred to as Clintonesque.
