Viral loads do not come from the environment.

This is an ignorant statement.

PPE has been shown to affect the viral load in viruses. LINK

Good for them that their actions probably limited their viral load and gave them less severe infection.

Or the mask filtered off the larger particles the virus was attached to so that literally only the covid particles entered their system, making it more likely they had symptoms instead of being asymptomatic.

Equally as serious as you are with starting this shitty thread with clearly biased data.

Wrong. The amount of virus you take in most definitely makes a difference.

Show me the equation. I bet that starting from 1 virus partial or a 1000 is not that significant given the fact that you have a finite number of target cells.

quote:

During the pandemics caused by swine flu and by the coronaviruses which caused SARS and MERS, many people in Asia and elsewhere walked around wearing surgical or homemade cotton masks to protect themselves. One danger of doing this is the illusion of protection. Surgical facemasks are designed to be discarded after single use. As they become moist they become porous and no longer protect. Indeed, experiments have shown that surgical and cotton masks do not trap the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus, which can be detected on the outer surface of the masks for up to 7?days. Thus, a pre-symptomatic or mildly infected person wearing a facemask for hours without changing it and without washing hands every time they touched the mask could paradoxically increase the risk of infecting others.

quote:

This was essentially done in an effort to try and reduce community transmission, especially from people who may not perceive themselves to be symptomatic, rather than to protect the wearer, although the evidence for this is scant.

Bro I dont think that's what he's saying. At all.

Regarding interventions, Orleans Parish (New Orleans) implemented a mask mandate on May 16. Jefferson Parish did not implement a mask mandate until July 1, 46 days later.

Yet, neither parishes saw a significant increase in deaths after reopening.

Ask the admins who RA’d dumbass. And let’s put a ban bet in place:

If it was me I’ll ban myself.

If it wasn’t me you ban yourself.

mad at the graph
The graph is manipulative. From the tiny print admitting to the numbers being estimates. To the two axis being proportioned differently making it seem more spread. To the colors darkening. Yes, anyone who looks into the data can see what it really means. But a graph is meant to be visual and tell a story. This one is purposefully dishonest.
