I haven’t been a practicing Catholic in years but was raised in a very strict Catholic home. If I remember my catechism correctly....if she wants them to be baptized she can do it herself... even an unbaptized person can baptize...gonna double check that... yea... paragraph 1256 in the catechism.

I'm baptist and we don't believe that the Catholic church's infant baptism has any significance in terms of salvation. If sprinkling water from a bird feeder on kid's head makes granny feel better, knock it out.

ETA: that being said, my grandmother, who was Church of Christ, once told me that I was going to hell because I wasn't Church of Christ. I told her that I had a reciprocal policy on those kinds of comments. She never brought it up again.

Children are not capable of making many decisions, but when they are old enough to do it it’s not a problem to change. It’s not like you are letting them choose to cut off their genitals there is no undoing that.

Baptist is the official religion of the single mom, former drug addict from am abusive relationship who has since "been saved!"

It is a bastardized version of Christianity that for some reason spends about 30% of all sermons trying to explain how Catholicism is wrong. (The other 70% is asking for money)

Isn't that what the Eastern Orthodox church says about Catholicism?

If you think baptism is gonna lock people into a certain path, you haven’t met many people.
Besides the idea that you’re raising your kids in a “neutral” environment is simply raising them to be neutral toward religion. You’re passing on the values whether you think you are or not. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

And if a kid dies before then, say during childbirth, that kid goes to hell?

Not just no, but "f" no. Your kids, your rules. Me and my lady will raise ours the exact same. If they want to practice a religion, they are free to do so. We will not indoctrinate them.

What if they want to become an Alabama fan?

We all indoctrinate our kids in one way or another...

If this isn't a "Chewbacca" defense, I don't know what is. Even trying to draw connections between college athletics and religion says a lot about you.

It's what they all say about each other. You wouldn't expect Coke to say that Pepsi is an acceptable soft drink, would you?

I went to various Catholic churches from ages 4-20ish

I don't recall them ever saying negative things or trying to explain why other sects are wrong.

I have been to maybe 5-10 Baptist services and it came up every time.

What does it say exactly. Fwiw, I'm no fan of any religion, but indoctrinating your child to be a fan of your team, whether it's Christianity or the Tigers, really isn't that different.

Get some holy water from church, let her do it. As a catholic she has that ability. Tell your kids exactly what’s going on.
