Wait your parents didn’t have a trust set aside for 4 year college and a couple semesters abroad? Bummer...

150k in debt for a graduate degree. I can pay it back, but I could probably impact the economy more if I wasn't getting raped by interest.

Let student loan payments come from pre-tax income. Thats all I ask.

My problem is because I make too much money,I can't deduct the interest on my loans yet the same liberal arts major can... why is that fair? Either make it where everyone can deduct or nobody can.

This. Make it an incentive for everyone to pay their debt off by allowing everyone to deduct the interest or better yet, just give a interest reduction for above minimum payments made over time.

When money is deducted it is made up somewhere else.

Who is making up the difference?

You shouldn’t have to be incentived to pay back your obligations

If you hate the debt so much, and you make too much to take the deduction, then pay it off faster.

Yeah, then education would be for the elite. That didn’t work out well. An educated society helps everyone.

Loan companies should be paying tax on the interest income.

College is bs, just become a pipefitter.

After graduating with a DPT and being a physical therapist for 10 years I'm considering going be plumbers apprentice with my friend's father in law. The ceiling is exponentially higher for someone with a good work ethic and I'm pretty burnt out on the paperwork.

You already stimulated the economy to the tune of $150k that they gave you to spend on things you couldn't afford.

Why aren't people complaining about the universities as well? They are flat ripping off students.

They compel (force) instructors to require books whether needed or not
Tuition continues to rise at ridiculous rates

There was a book that came out in 2001, cost around $95 new. I have a pdf of this text book and got it for free. Same text, same edition, is being used still. I just saw it in a campus book store for $360. Inflation has not gone up 360%. They are ripping off students. But students don't say a word because a) they don't realize it's happening, and b) universities are providing safe spaces, lactation rooms, and other garbage to distract them.

This will all come crashing down soon. It's going to demolish universities, the employees working there, and the communities they're in.

We also are in dire need of a reality check for students. I sat in a university orientation for new employees and one of the employees, who has never left academic environments because she's a loser, complained when they spoke about athletics at the university. What was her complaint? That they didn't have a female version of the mascot. This stupid woman has no clue how expensive it is to have a mascot. At a place like UF they have to have several of each (male and female) because you can't put someone in a giant bag of carpet, fur and rubber in Florida for 4-5 hours at a football game and expect them to live. Even in nicer climates you have to have multiple outfits. It's an entire production. But people don't stop to think about any of this or even entertain that there's more to it than just snapping your fingers or holding some vigil to protest and poof it happens. Why is that? Because the educational system is garbage and no one tells the little snowflakes how life works.

May I ask what your field was that you decided to invest $150k for the degree?

There are a handful that are worth it, so I thought I'd ask first.

You agreed to pay the money back, do you need to be incentivized to pay your car note or rent? Go work for the Fed gov for a few years and get that shite paid off.

I agree with that. The people who get fricked the most are the out of state attendees that have to pay a higher cost for the same piece of paper to wipe their arse with. Whats with that, why do they charge more for out of state? I'd be willing to bet if you could pull statistics on it, the out of state attendees have a substantial lead with average gpa over in state attendees. In my case this was true. I don't have any problem with paying the money back that I borrowed. My problem is that I had to pay more for the same thing.
