I think this is missing middle steps. Until there's complete autonomous driving,the technology will have limited effect. There will always be a reaction to every action and last I checked even automated vehicles would have to react to a bad driver...which would cause another vehicle to react....and another to react...

It doesn't necessarily scare me. I spend about 2 hours a day in a car, and the idea of being able to read a book or whatever excites me more than the idea of not having complete control over the car.
