I'm suffering through my first outbreak of gout. This sucks to the point that I'm considering giving up my beloved steaks.

It isn’t the steak. That’s what they want you to believe. It’s all sugar and complex carbs.

Start drinking 100% Black Cherry juice, it’s a natural anti-inflammatory. Worked for me.

Drinking a bunch of water and no alcohol works too.

Yeah , being fat and having gout are two separate things.
Dark liquor (Bourbon) sets mine off.

But easy to control with diet and some drug doc gave me.

Painful as hell though.

This. My dad swore by it. He would start drinking it as soon as he felt gout coming on. He constantly drank that and water. Rarely did he take the medication the doc gave him, only if it was a really bad case.
Oh....he wasn't fat, either.

If under an attack, colchicine will get you through it.

But yeah.. dark cherry juice and supplements help, celery too. CurtaIling alcohol and high purine foods goes a long way. Get you a script of allopurinol. It's cheap and effective.

Some of us simply can't process uric acid like others. It's just the way God made some of us.

No one is 5'11"

If you are really 5'11" you say you are 6'.

You are 5'10" at best.

I had a flare up of gout once. I have no idea what caused it but it was so painful it was hard to walk. It was probably about 4-5 years ago. And no I’m not fat

I work with a dude that's about 5'7 140 that has it chronically. It does occur more in overweight people but having it doesn't necessarily mean that you are overweight. Either you ingest too many purines or your body has trouble getting rid of uric acid. It's quite painful for those that don't ever get it.

Iodine sets it off. The rich man disease. . High fats meat and seafood and good liquor. Never had it but a friend gets it.
