It’s true. Scary and pretty rare, but true.
I have friends who still party with blow occasionally and they’ve mostly stopped because of it. A friend of one of them died from it in Atlanta recently. Was not an opiate guy, fent was in the coke.

I’m not sure. I read an article that the Connecticut state police lab did confirm the presence of fentanyl in some marijuana they tested. But i also read that any flame hot enough to burn plant material would destroy fentanyl. Possibly it’s cross contamination if the dealers are bagging it on a surface they also handled fentanyl on? Maybe when they roll the joint they get it on their fingers and ingest it. Maybe it’s not traditional smoked weed that the kids are OD’ing on. A lot of people are eating the THC in candies or other edibles, maybe it’s that? I did have an old woman swear to me that her 30-something son smoked a joint on her couch and immediately dropped dead. She said she found him while he was still warm and all he had was weed on him but the coroner said it was a fent OD. It’s enough to make me warn my kids, though i’m sure they think i’m just being paranoid.

I’m a cop in northwest Florida, I’ve never seen this many teenagers using opiates in my life. Educate your kids on the counterfeit Oxycodones and Xanax out there, educate yourself too. We have had a ton of overdoses involving teenagers who think they are taking prescription pills. It’s one thing to smoke a blunt that’s what kids do but either starting an opiate addiction or dying is a completely other thing.
