Got any good info on getting rid of poison oak?

calamine lotion? think thats how ya spell it.

mint works as well
make sure if you have been scratching it to clean your hands and under your nails as that will spread that shite everywhere.
Mostly just tough it out after putting the calamine on. get some gum to take your mind off of it lol

Do not scratch. The plant has an oil which causes the rash. Just wash with lukewarm soap and water and also wash your clothes. Try a steroid cream.

Best thing that helps me, and I'm extremely allergic, is to just not itch and wash it regularly with soap. If any blisters pop up, sterilize a needle, poke a hole in it, and gently press with a paper towel or tissue paper. Immediately wash with soap and water. There are a lot of OTC ointments, but they never did shite for me. Just have to wash it regularly and wait for it to dry out.

I'd probably go to the Doc-in-a-Box and get a shot if I had it in those areas because it can spread with sweat (so I was told by an MD) and can run down your body to face, eyes, etc.
Other than that Walgreens sells Technu products and I would go stock up on that immediately.

Wash with dawn. The oil is still on your skin and the key is to get it off.

If it's an extremely bad case (I've only had one bad enough that I did this) then go to the doc and they will give you a steroid shot (I think that's what it is) and it will go away in a day or two.

If the rash has developed, it's unlikely he still has unbound urushiol on his skin. If that is the case, washing won't help, and there's no longer any danger of spreading the oil by transference.

Now that you minimized the initial reaction, go to a Doc-in-a-box and get a steroid shot and deal with it from there. If you've got some oral steroids, take them now but tell your doctor about anything you took. It's going to take some time but the above will minimize the duration and intensity.
Bottom line is get it off, fight the histamine reaction, then fight the swelling/ inflammation which translates to shower, Benadryl, steroid, and resist scratching so as to prevent scarring...

listen to someone who had that stuff two our three time every year for a lot of years. There is only one way to deal with it. Do not count on any lotions or creams or home remedies.
Go to the doctor today. Not tomorrow and get a steroid shot. If you have in in sensitive areas, you will thank me tomorrow.
It will take care of it in about 8 hours. They may have you come back for a booster shot the next day but trust me on this, it is the only way. It will completely clear up in one day

Wow. Hard to believe. My father and I have had it 50 times between us. I grew up on a farm. And the shot usually takes one day
