Scratch it real good, to get the juices out of your skin. Find some poison ivy, and rub it on the affected areas. Ivy counteracts oak.

It doesn't work like that. All you can do is remove oil on the surface, and you need to do that quickly, preferably within a few minutes of exposure, but certainly within an hour or so. Once the urushiol binds to the skin, it's game over, man, game over. You can even spend $40 on a tube of Zanfel, but you'd be better off buying some weed; Zanfel is expensive snake oil.

Wash everything that you may have come into contact with before getting the oil off, car seat, chairs, pillows, sheets, the oil will be on everything your neck and head touched prior to a good shower.

Mean Green Power Hand Scrub. It's worked for me and read the reviews on Amazon.

I had a very minor case, just a few spots on my arms. Walk In Clinic gave me a shot & a weeks worth of pills. Worth the co-pay.

Depending on how bad it is, get a shot. If you can live with it itching a little longer, get a rag and Dawn and wash the hell out of all the affected areas. Once dry, apply apple cider vinegar to all the areas using a paper bag or soaked paper towels.
I used one of the one of those yellow kitchen sponges with the green brillow back, and Dawn, once I got a rash. Scrubbed too hard and took the skin off. Then applied apple cider vinegar. Burned like a mother fricker, but it worked. I don't recommend taking the skin off. You can likely get the same results without being stupid like I was.
For future reference, watch this

Every time I've gotten it as adult I've had to get the steroid shot to clear it up. Usually takes 48 hours after the shot for it to clear up for me.
Scrubbing the oil off (urishol) is tough. It's compared to getting grease on yourself and scrubbing it off. Dawn soap and a good rough rag are what you need, and seriously scrub the shite out of wherever it got on you like your life depended on it.
I've been so desperate for relief before that I've scratched the blisters to the point of bleeding then poured bleach over them. I know that sounds ridiculous but it made it stop itching for a short time.

shite man that sucks. I got shingles during my first week of my freshman year of college on my stomach. Just about the worst pain I've ever dealt with. Dr gave me some 7.5 hydrocodones, 800mg Tylenol, and a cream to put on it and it still hurt like hell. Took mine about a week to subside.

Neutralizes the poison and stops the spread. Add some aloe like people have said after a few hours.
Some people aren't bothered by it,some mildly and some severe. If it seems severe and home remedies aren't working,don't feel like a pussy getting it checked out by a professional you don't want to end up with a bunch of scabs and wounds that could cause other problems
