Your best defense going forward will always be "Hey. I don't make the rules, 7-Eleven does..."

Profit.

I've never been accused of being a racist. Probably because I don't associate with minorities.

I was called a racist today because I was asked what I thought about Robert e Lee day. I told them that I supported the constitutional rights of the state's to make that decision whether I agreed with it or not. Boom. Racist.

I was putting in an order for food at a restaurant bar when this woman came in and interrupted my conversation with the bartender.

I politely asked her to let him finish with my order and he said the same thing to her (twice) because she wouldn't shut up.

She called me a racist.

They really have some dumbasses walking around this planet.

What kind of job do you sell booze, but don't usually work with the public?

Csb time. I used to frequent a bar in Kenner. Good friend tended bar. This guy would card every black and Mexican that came in. 75% of them looked over 50 years old. I thought it was hilarious. Most of the time they didn't have Id. White privilege abounded.

I got accused of racism by a white, Mexican, and a Asian person today. I call that a triple threat...

I carded a young black man and he didn't have his ID so I told him I couldn't sell it.

Might as well have burned a lower case "t" in his yard for tolerance.

For one, that was my old job. Secondly, in Alabama you only have to card if they look under 30.

The law (in Louisiana) states that to purchase alcohol, you must have a valid ID to purchase alcohol- whether you are 26 or 86, you should have to show your ID to prove you have it on your person.

I'm not saying you were being racist, but I am saying that you should card everyone to make sure that their ID is valid (not expired) and present at the time they make the purchase.

ETA: In Louisiana, anyway

He probably didn't really think you were racist. He was probably hoping you would just let him get his way because you are scared of being labeled a racist and would do whatever it takes to avoid it.

At which I would have told her, "no I'm not racist but you are certainly rude."

I really detest the whole racism card idea. For starters, we live in a country where it's virtually impossible to be blatantly racist towards blacks today. And that is a good thing. The only problem is that it's a giant double standard. It's ok for blacks to be racist towards whites. Because, you know, 150 years ago...

Well, like I said that was my old job, we were only required to card if you looked under 30, and I wasn't going to piss off all my regular customers just to please one guy I'd never seen before.

People outside of Louisiana don't get that Cajuns are ok with the coonass moniker.
