The current governor's runoff opponent was very vocal about the need-and his intent to institute-tort reform. They say politics creates strange bedfellows, and it was no different.
Attorneys make-and donate-a lot of money. When the current governor's opponent in the runoff was that vocal about tort reform, it pushed a staggering amount of money and support behind the candidates that promised to spare them that reform.
Elections have consequences.

Why are medical rates so high since the cap on damages in medical liability hasn't been raised in forty years (not even adjusted for inflation), but medical costs and health insurance have gone up orders of magnitude.
