There really wasn’t much to complain about Mitch his first year or so in office. He deserves all the criticism in the world now though

So long Mitch the Bitch. Go away.

Not really a picture I wanted to start my Monday with. Thanks a lot.

It’d be nice if Mitch would spray his neighbor in the face with a garden hose.

He will be back in one way or another. He can't make a living by working.

1) Lafitte Greenway
2) No hint of scandal (ok, bar is low, but it counts)
3) Cut spending to bring budget in control (yes, it hurt NOPD and NOFD... but hey don't the conservatives among us want smaller government??)
4) Dealt with NOFD pension crap once and for all
5) Major improvements at City Hall in the permitting process - One Stop Shop is the real deal
Now granted... all of these things are things that should have been done by past administrations... but he did do them.
I can't stand the man and he did a lot of bad... but we can't deny he had some successes.

Mitch was horrible.
Cantrell will be 10x worse.
New Orleans is fricked.

This is your legacy.
But, Mitch chose to stand alone in the narcissistic deflection of his incompetence, like a giddy pyromaniac torching a library, so I'm all for piling on.

I just saw the Lee statue popping a wheelie on a Harley in the Lee Circle roundabout with a BYE BITCH flag on the back of the Harley.

Cantrell will have us all wishing for the professionalism and competence of Sidney Barthelemy......and he was terrible.
She's not even from NOLA.....straight outta Compton, CA....serious

Stereotype.
The conservatives I read want smaller FEDERAL government, then state government. Local government is a different story, one can easily move from one jurisdiction to another, it's a lot harder to opt-out when the federal government is too big.

Landrieu calls himself a miracle-worker, but New Orleans crime rates are sinful
quote:
Mitch Landrieu described his accomplishments as mayor of New Orleans as “admirable at least, and miraculous at best.”
quote:
Police One reported Orleans Parish, between 2009 and 2015, right in the heart of Landrieu’s tenure as mayor, was the most murderous county (or parish) in the United States, with a murder rate of 43 homicides per 100,000 people. Nationally the rate is five murders per 100,000.
To put it into to perspective, the murder rate per capita in New Orleans is higher than in deadly countries like Colombia, South Africa, Jamaica and El Salvador. If Orleans Parish were a country, it would be the fourth most dangerous place on earth.
But yeah...he did a lot of good
quote:
Public safety was clearly not a priority for Landrieu. When he first took office, he froze hiring at NOPD. That caused the department through the years to drop from approximately 1,500 to 1,100 at one point. The city is now trying to replenish the department, but only added a net total of 25 new officers in
quote:
When Landrieu first took office, half of the city’s murders went unsolved. Eight years into Landrieu’s watch, more than three-quarters of all murders committed in New Orleans go unsolved. And the response time from police has doubled under Landrieu.
quote:
Landrieu may have been effective as mayor in some areas. But you can build a library on every corner and have the fanciest airport on the globe, and if people don’t feel safe in their city, what good is it?

What he got right:
He got the city on its feet again after Hurricane Katrina and the federal floods.
He solved decades-old fiscal problems.
He settled longstanding civil rights claims against the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).
He tackled the thorny issue of race.
He improved the city’s image
Where he fell short:
He balanced the budget on the back of NOPD recruiting.
He got caught napping at the Sewerage and Water Board (S&WB).
He didn’t follow through on relocating the Confederate monuments.

Where did I say that Mitch Landrieu did anything all that good.
