so very ignorant. You can attend the Catholic church every week and participate in the sacraments and not pay a dime.

getting baptised and married ain't free bub. and are you telling me you've never put money in the hand me out baskets?

I look at going to church for 1 hour like being in timeout. I'm only on this world for so long, and i'd rather not spend even an hour each week listening and worshipping a magician. That time costs something to me, and i'm not giving it to the church.

I was referring more to the weekly sacraments of communion and reconciliation. The marriage and baptism fees are not particularly large anyway. Nobody forces you to put money in the collection basket. My point was you don't have to give a dime to go to mass weekly.

Nothing I said about attending weekly Mass and not having to donate a dime was untrue. It demonstrates that the first person I responded to posted in ignorance.

What you said was true, and ignorant itself. If everyone went to church, and no one donated any money ever, the church would cease to exist.

Ignorant? I think your argument of absurdity is ignorant. All donations are VOLUNTARY.

can you try to explain this principle to the liberals in Washington?

The big difference is people donating to the church are doing it willingly. The American people mandated to pay for the non payers.

no shite they are voluntary. They've already gotten hundreds of millions of people brainwashed. So you think if no one in the world donated to the catholic church, since it's voluntary, everything would operate like it does today? They do not exists without donations.
it's like the thread about the church and and tipping the to go order. In that thread someone said as a waiter you take the bad tippers and let it go, b/c you know it will all even out with the good tippers. That's what the church does with people that never donate. They take it b/c if they said something, they'd look terrible, and they know they will rake in money from all the other idiots. You're not going to prove a point to a few non payers to risk losing all the good payers.

You can believe all you want the church isn't about money. You're the one being ignorant.

Good, then we agree. You can go to church, donate nothing and nobody is going to tap you on the shoulder and inquire why you aren't. Nobody is going to tell you to get out or shame you for not doing so. The priest will still gladly include you in Communion. You should reread the post I responded to.

Your obsession with race is not healthy. I could understand a criticism every now and then, but almost every post you make is racist remarks towards the black community.

And I've been critical of their community from time to time as well. But your constant, blatant racist remarks and letting them consume your whole day, minute by minute, is unhealthy. Don't be mad at them for your wife stepping out on you with Jody. Be mad at your wife, it's her fault.

TL;DR - Get a life.

For everyone else, good luck in your commitment to Lenten. I'm not a Catholic, although I am a Christian, and I have a lot of respect for the people who take Lenten serious and see it through.
