I used to be a club ho, but stopped buying new stuff a while back. My 3 wood and higher lofted hybrids are set. This slot is bothering me. I'd like a hybrid over a traditional 5w, but not one of the smaller ones like the Idea Pros. What's long and easy to hit from the fairway in the wood-like hybrids these days?

I like my Ping i20 20 degree. The 17 might be a better fit in that slot though. Super easy to hit in most lies.

so basically you're looking for a larger head hybrid? Or a smaller head 5 wood?

I've been having a Ping G2 5 wood thats 17 degrees for about 10-12 years.

5 woods are easy to hit off the fairway honestly, my only problem is I think it goes too high. Hybrids, IMO, fly lower or easier to control the flight.

I have a ping G5 21 degree I've played for 10 years. I prefer it more than my 21 degree titleist 909h hybrid

I hit one of those new ping crossover irons the other day and it was pretty long. It was easy to hit as well.

Yes. Currently holding on to a Sonartec that is ancient. I like the size/shape, but the face c.o.r feeling that of a solid block of steel.

The OT always comes through. Can't believe this wasn't response #1.

2i Cleveland Hibore Hybrid. Might be one of my favorite clubs. It's the gap between my 3 wood and 4 iron.

And to piggy back of your pictures, this is the i20 that I hit. I feel like OP should like the profile.

ETA: That shot from above the club isn't right though. This one is:

I have trouble with fairway woods and hybrids because I'm a little steep coming in. The club bounces off the turf behind the ball and ends up hitting the ball above the equator and worm burns up the fairway. I ended up getting this Callaway X Prototype that I use on par 5 second shots, as a "driving iron" on short par fours. It has lower/hot trajectory with a lot of run out, so there's certain situations it's not great for: long carries over water, or if you need to stop it quick. But the versitility is well worth it to me. I call it my "Billy Baroo" because I have so much confidence in it. It's what I fill the slot between my fairway wood and four iron.

How's the stock shaft? A soft S would be nice. If the S is strong, I may have to go with R.

Can't help you too much on that one. I got mine with the Project X 5.5 shaft (stock shaft option). If I'm not mistaken, that's equivalent to an R flex. No NIT4O here, so it works for me.
