This .
Weekday matinee alone(or with someone) is nice , quiet , empty & almost feels like a private screening .
I agree I would probably never go alone at night.

People who can't do anything just by themselves (ex: shopping, movies, etc) have issues.

I've gone a couple times by myself. Had no problems with it.

I've done it before and I think one has to be seriously insecure to not be able to spend some alone time with themselves.
My wife doesn't like certain movies (comic movies, TMNT, etc) and many of my friends who would to see those movies live in other states. So I'll go every once in a while to a matinee and see the movie.
Why does one have to see a movie with people? The point of a movie is to watch it so even if you go with someone you sit there in silence watching the flick.

Me either.
I can't stand the smell of popcorn. Movie theaters smell like popcorn farts to me.

I usually do on a Sunday or Monday. Get to take in the movie and not have to worry about someone asking you questions the whole time.

I do it just about every week

Lately I almost go exclusively by myself and during the day.

Movies are fine but eating out by yourself runs the risk of ending up like poor Pig:

I do it all the time. I honestly prefer if I'm the only person in there. I hate crowded theaters because it increases the chance of someone doing something to annoy me.
Went to go see Guardians of the Galaxy the Monday after the opening weekend and the theater was packed. I almost went apeshit on these idiots who had the phones out during the previews and start of the movie. I sorta missed the opening scene as I was boiling over in my seat trying to calm down. They finally put their phones away thankfully

If I am traveling with work and there is something I want to see, I will go by myself.

I go to the movies by myself all the time, but I live right by Perkins Rowe and am a huge movie nerd, so idk how socially acceptable it- don't care.

I often enjoy going by myself because I like to quietly process what I've watched afterwards, and other people inevitably want to talk about what we just saw in the car on the way home.

1) Go to movie by self
2) bring handheld vaporizer

Who cares what other people think? Other people suck anyway.

Did it myself a few times. I would go with Socially acceptable. I certainly would not consider it weird.
