Going to NO this weekend

Taking the little lady down for the weekend. We live in Gonzales. She wants to stay uptown and do dinner and shop on Magazine but with the rash of restaurant hold ups and armed robberies I'm a little nervous. I was considering just staying in Metairie, take her to Lakeside mall, and eat somewhere around there. IF we go uptown where should we avoid?

Is this a joke?
I live Uptown, and I'm not avoiding any areas that I wouldn't usually avoid. You typically want to stay between St Charles and Magazine, unless you are closer to the Audubon side of Uptown, at that point some areas north of St Charles are safer.

There is a huge difference in patrols uptown. Especially on Magazine St. There was even police on horses riding down Magazine the other day.

Sorry I would like to stay safe and not get held up while eating out somewhere nice. Probably just do my plan and maybe hit District on Sunday morning
