The likelihood is you will sit in a cramped courtroom for three hours and they will set if for a trial on a date when the officer actually shows up. Unless the officer is there and then they will just call your case for trial and you will lose because the judge has never heard anyone tell her/him I was only going 5mph over the speed limit, nothing more.

Every traffic docket day (in our District Court), I see 10-30 people lining up to "talk to the prosecutor." They could have done this in advance and saved a ton of time.

In our Parish, you get traffic diversion if you are not going over 100 and if you didn't have a bad attitude with the cop (there are notes you don't see about your attitude).

Diversion means you pay but it doesn't go on your record.

I love people who believe this nonsense will work. "Don't allow long answers".

When you get to court, the prosecutor will call your name and ask if you want to resolve it. Tell him you just want a non-moving to keep it off your insurance. You're done.

Most traffic ticket atty's charge around $85 and their attempt is to have the ticket dismissed. After that they go for reduced fine and making it a non moving violation keeping it off of your record.

You are actually better off to tell the judge that due to the recent increase of police violence you feared for your life and was trying to avoid a police execution by speeding away from the officer which unfortunately forced you into a reckless situation.

You can get speeding tickets dropped pretty easy.

Cheapest way is asking for driving school at court. They will usually make you pay court fees and then driving school fees.

Most expensive way is find a lawyer who is extremely friendly with the judge and they can work it out before court. I got an 86 in a 55 earlier this year, reckless ticket automatic in TN at that speed, but I got a lawyer who was extremely friendly with the judge. Lawyer made me take this bullshite defensive driving course online before court. I didn't even have to pay attention, just click to keep the computer awake. Showed up to court and they dismissed the entire ticket, speeding and reckless, no court costs at all. Lawyer wasn't cheap though. People in court with no lawyer and much lower speeding violations got hammered by the judge and some didn't get driving school/had to pay ticket. Judge didn't even say a word to me,

Uh, something does not compute. First you suggest asking only yes or no questions then you immediately suggest asking an explanation question.

I helped a guy on OT with a ticket, didn't charge (but he sent me a nice bottle of booze).

Get the maintenance records and training records for the cop's radar gun and the cop. If for some reason it wasn't calibrated properly you might get off.

Good luck with that. Tried getting the maintenance records for a traffic light in New Orleans in 2013. I'm still waiting for those records 4 years later

It is 894, not 895. 895 is a general probation article.

quote:

“894” is simply the code of criminal procedure article that allows for a misdemeanor conviction to be expunged after successfully completing probation. So the term “894 plea” simply means you are pleading guilty to a misdemeanor with an expungement opportunity.

How much you think a 68 in a 55 runs? Should i just pay the 130 online class or is the ticket less?

I had 5 mph added to one I got in Woodworth. About a month later a buddy I was riding with got one in Madison Parish and had 6 mph added. This seems to be more common lately with tickets generating revenue.

Its worked for me every single time I've done it.

I've argued a window tint ticket and won, a cutting though a parking lot ticket and won, and 3 speeding tickets in 3 different parishes and won all (1 cop didn't show, so they tossed it after they tried to get me to take a non-moving violation and I declined).

And yeah, I'm not talking about arraignment. I went to arraignment for all and they offered to reduce and I said negative.

I even had the cop that ticketed me in Killian? follow me to the parking lot to laugh about it and tell me it was clever.

I was a college kid for most so I had the time...

I'll take "Requests that make cops laugh their arse off" for $400 Alex.
