Got pulled over this morning for speeding. Cop says I was doing 76 in a 65, but my cruise control was set at 70. What is the likelihood the ticket will be dropped if I go to court? Has anyone done this? Any advice? TIA

You were speeding. Why would they drop it?

Don't waste your time, you were still speeding.

Well if its your first ticket you can always try to use that article 594 or some shite. It got me out of my 114 in a 70 going through Rapides Parish when I was 19 .

I wouldn't tell the judge that. Get the maintenance records and training records for the cop's radar gun and the cop. If for some reason it wasn't calibrated properly you might get off.

Watch this week's Curb and argue your ticket Larry David style.

Pay an extra $200 to a traffic attorney to get it dropped to a nonmoving violation. You'll pay a little more but it stays off your record and more importantly insurance.

Tell the judge exactly that. You'll be fine.

Yeah I wouldnt do that. Thats your get out of jail free card for a misdemeanor. Kind of overkill for a 10 over speeding ticket.

Get a lawyer to handle it for you. I've taken care of a few Desoto Parish tickets for folks on here.

Going to court is a waste of time.

Watched a woman represent herself in a traffic ticket case here. She was accused of going 86 in a 70. "I wasn't going 86." Judge: "How fast were you going?" "I was going 77." Judge: "Guilty, 77 in a 70."

894, not 594. Only a complete idiot would waste it on a traffic ticket.

why are you wanting a dropped ticket when you were guilty of speeding?

Is it a small town? I had something similar about 3 years back. I talked to the DA during court and negotiated it to driving without my license with me, but agreed to still pay the same fine. They only care about the money, so keep that in mind when negotiating.

To be fair 7 over is not the same as 16 over. I would imagine the difference in fines is substantial.

Considering its the only ticket I've ever received and don't live in La anymore. Worked out for me quite nice.

Well outside the two tint tickets in Livonia hahah.
