Your rubric reference reminded me that objectification has been one of my burdens throughout my entire adult life.

It's been tough but it has some benefits.

I used to joke that I sometimes wished I was gay because I can't communicate with women. I stopped telling that joke when a friend pointed out gay men are exactly the same.

That's not what everyone is looking for though. If you're looking for a real relationship, sites like Bumble and Tinder seem counterproductive.

Nothing beats the good ole fashioned meeting someone in person while attending an event involving your favorite activity.

Nurse owns a Jeep doesn't she? she's gonna get a MOUNTAIN of Jeep creeps hitting on her...

This will be me whenever I am ready. I just can’t see how having random hookup after hookup will be good for me in any way. I don’t do very well with rejection thanks to my ex (he seriously has screwed me up on that one).

When I’m ready I basically just want a nice straight guy that doesn’t look like Shrek that will go to church with me, not cheat on me or lie to me, is affectionate, loves to read, loves the outdoors, loves dogs, and thinks I’m pretty.

frick that. Some of those Jeep people can be major douches. I will seriously end a date if a guy picks me up in a Jeep with the angry eyes grill. (Not joking either).

Not really.

If we accept that sexual attraction is a key component of building a relationship, ie that a woman must see a man as a potential romantic partner before the "courtship" phase can begin, then Tinder and Bumble are actually really helpful at clarifying the purpose behind social interaction. No one swipes you on Bumble to go on a friend date.

It's probably not a winning strategy to try and turn hookups into housewives, but there's a healthy percentage of relationships that began as FWBs until both partners decided they wanted more.

Tons of them out there, unfortunately some people have expectations that are out of this world.

Lots of awesome people out there who make good mates and are constantly digging in the wrong ditches.

I'd be shocked if she doesn't bring it up.

My brother said something very similar when he got divorced. His ex wife looked like Fiona anyway so he has to do better next time. Right?

I mean it would be odd if she didn’t. Like it would be weirder if she waited until date number 3 to be like “oh by the way I’m divorced”. Like what is she trying to hide if she isn’t open about it from the get go?

I don’t plan on going into a long saga on the first date of what happened, but I’ll tell them I’m divorced and give a very brief explanation why.

Just want that nice guy, eh?

And when he’s suddenly not so nice because you have zero physical desire for him, you’ll wonder what happened.

I don't find his post to scream that at all. He is basically echoing what was said further up the page:

If you go straight to courting a woman before there's any chance for a sexual/physical attraction to form, she's going to see you as "too nice" and either friend zone you right away, or realize eventually into dating you that she's not full of physical desire for you.
