For me it would be the early to mid 1990s. Still had some freedom, still had more of the old style of living while still having some more modern conveniences.
I really do think the 1990s to mid 2000s were the best time technology wise. You had a good amount of technology. Heck the internet was fairly developed by the early 2000s. But it was that sweet spot where you had the technology but could still disconnect easily. It was before technology took over our lives.
It's also how I define generations, regardless of what the official generation years are. You are a Millennial if you don't remember life before computers but do remember life before smartphones and apps. You are Gen Z if you do not remember life before smartphones and apps.
Smartphones seemed great at the time but really have screwed things up. It's tethered us to technology. It's made it nearly impossible to truly disconnect.

The New Liberty Standard Exchange recorded the first exchange of Bitcoin for dollars in late 2009. Users on the BitcoinTalk forum traded 5,050 bitcoins for $5.02 via PayPal, making the first price mediated through an exchange a bargain basement price of $0.00099 per bitcoin.
That $5 bet would be worth over $360M today, 15 years later.
Yeah money is not everything but it’s definitely something.

Pass.
I’ll take what I have had since 1961 and be happy.
It’s been pretty wonderful so far.

1791 when they wrote the 2nd amendment....
"Listen fellas, you have to write this like 5 different ways.... people are stupid in the future....Judges won't even be able to agree on what 'Shall not be infringed', means..."

I could do the 80’s over again.

I’d go back to 2016 and tell my mom not to do the radiation that eventually killed her.

Mid 90's. I was young enough to not have to be responsible for things and old enough to appreciate what I had. Michael Jordan and the Bulls, Atlanta Braves, WWF (before that stupid name change to WWE), technology wasn't so advanced that it ate up your life and you could enjoy it in increments. Nothing better than waking up to watch Goosebumps Saturday mornings and then switch it over to ESPN to watch College Gameday that was only an hour long. My Mom was still alive too
