Picked up my 6.2 a few weeks ago. It’s fun. If the engine gives out then that’s something by for my company to worry about. I just drive what they buy me.

This is how the country runs. Your elected reps don’t do shite. Reps give the exec branch carte blanch and we get fricked.

For those who think the government is here to help the American people, this is what their help looks like. Things like DFM wouldn’t exist if not for needless government regulations.

What kind of a fkn genius puts a rubber belt running inside the engine running in oil?

This tops the magical 75k mile disintegrating plastic hose barbs/y’s on the OL’s Ecoboost.

Why can't we have camshafts and main bearings holding together in 2025? shite engines have been using since reciprocating engines were invented?

Because the lubrication fricking sucks because everybody's ultra dickhard about reducing parasitic loss a fraction of a percent in an engine that's only 30% efficient to start with. Its fricking stupid. I hate engines now. With modern manufacturing techniques, building engines the old way would result in some insane life expectancy.

Did you know there is a rubber web belt between the motor and transmission? Have to remove trans to replace

Sure do. I'm not going to own the truck long enough to have to worry about it.

Deactivating it on the computer doesn't ultimately solve your problem.

Ah, damn. I was about to ask why people don’t just deactivate the shite and avoid the problem. Guess it’s still a problem.

My wife’s van has the thing where the engine turns off at every stop. We deactivate that every time before putting it in gear. Nobody wants that shite.

Or not force them to have to make these complex shite features in the first place

There are no reliable engines being made on par with what we saw pre-Covid due to the CAFE changes imposed by the Biden admin.

They were all rushed out and traded reliability for fuel efficiency.

The slightly ironic thing is that it affects poor people the most.

Buying a 15yo beater to get back and forth to work? Sorry, those where sent to the crusher 5 years ago.
Or they buy the beater and the engine capitulates and the minimum wage cashier needs a new 7k engine.

How simple, dependable and cost-effective would it have been to run that component off of the flywheel ring gear instead of a hidden belt?
It works for the starter just fine.

You still have shite lifters. Ask me how I know.

I had a lifter go out at 3k miles on my 2021 sierra. Per dealership, there were 3 others in the shop at the same time for the same reason.

Picked up a AFM/DFM Disable Device that plugs into your OBD 2 port
after a conversation with a GM Service Mgr friend told me they are replacing lifters on vehicles due to the AFM system...
he will get one when his vehicle is close to going out of warranty...

I was pretty set on getting the 2025 Yukon but all these issues has me back to looking at a used Land Cruiser. I just want something dependable that I can load up a family of 5 and take a vacation. Land Cruiser is about the only vehicle I’d be confident could be handed down to my son in 13 years.

Sad when you can’t just go get a suburban anymore and drive it for 300k miles with regular maintenance.

Or the front gear train like every other diesel engine ever made?

I know why. Because its too noisy. Thanks to all who insist on buying the ghetto pimp trim 3/4 ton diesels and complain about which one is the most rattly one. You're are the reason we have shitty CP4 pumps, foam in intake tubes, belt driven oil pumps, hydraulic lifters, and all other manner of dumb shite in the name of having the quietest cab interior.

Know why you can't get a solid lifter cummins in a pickup anymore? Because it's too noisy.
