EV investment blew up from 16-20. You’re giving the government too much credit and the capital markets not enough. Investors don’t like giving money to dinosaurs and public companies are whores to the capital markets.

EVs are useless for things other trips to the store, short errands, commutes,,etc.

Worthless for trips. One you start ruining The a/c or heat in traffic, you’ll be stranded.

frick that.

It always amazes me how willing people are to be 100% wrong about something and talking on something they have no clue about and have done no research on.

Range lost while idling in traffic, particularly with the AC on, is one of the numerous scenarios in which EVs beat the shite out of ICE.

There’ll be demand when the aholes in DC outlaw the ICE.

What's really amazing is just how confident they are in their "truth." They KNOW what they're talking about.

None. They just make shite up and run when they get called out except the occasional drive-by downvote. It’s a bitch move.

But the leftist disciples of “energy transition” are the arbiters of truth?

Go buy an EV if you want, but don’t pretend the market is not being manipulated by the government.

I think it's safe to say most of the EV buyers/supporters in this thread are not "leftists." We just don't subscribe to groupthink from people who have never gotten behind the wheel of an EV. It's telling that one side of the argument chooses to label the other because they happen to find a product useful for their personal needs. And what was stated about reduced range while idling with the A/C on is patently false, just FYI. It's not debatable.

When has the market ever NOT been manipulated by the government? It's pretty comical that you think choosing an ICE exempts you from that government control you despise so much.

You read through this thread and you think it's the pro EV folks that are spouting more nonsense than the anti EV folks?

Bless your heart.

Every market is manipulated by government, especially O&G (and all of energy), ag, financials, and the like. These are critical industries, and completely free markets fricking suck at doing what's best for a nation's interests. I know that government manipulation and regs don't always do what's best either, and I know a lot of shite is designed simply to make some politicians rich, but it is still a fact that free markets do what free markets do with no fricks given whatsoever whether there will be a food or energy shortage today or tomorrow or 10 years from now and how that might affect national security.

And hopefully you will come to understand over the coming years how critically important it will be that America is a leader in EVs and renewable energy. The cost savings across all industries will be an incredible economic boost, and it will be a real shame if we end up sending all those savings to fricking China and give them the boost instead.

China is not taking "advantage"of these "savings". They are firing up new coal powered plants every week.

Where the frick have you people been and what are you smoking?

The bulk of the materials for these EV systems come from mining in foreign countries (the majority of which China has stake in or owns).

You're experiencing collective blindness due to your party affiliation.

No thanks, I'll keep my ICE vehicles as long as they sell gasoline for them.

Their renewable installation capacity growth has outpaced thermal lately. Your talking point is outdated.

China both buys and sells more EVs than pretty much the rest of the world combined. They also manufacturer and install more solar than the rest of the world combined. Same for batteries.

This isn't about clean energy or being green, this is about dollars as usual. Solar energy is super cheap and it's only getting cheaper. China is giving itself a massive head start on this cheap energy revolution, and I don't think you appreciate how impactful this will be.
