GLP-1 users are reporting an unexpected side effect: An obsession with perfume

Some GLP-1 weight loss drug users say they’ve picked up an unexpected — and not inexpensive — hobby since they started using the shots: a new infatuation with perfume.
They just can’t get enough of sweet, dessert-like fragrances and admit to obsessively buying up dozens of bottles of vanilla and cinnamon perfumes.
Professor Leslie Kay (Psychology) spoke to The Independent about how the drugs may make the part of the brain that processes smells extremely sensitive to food smells.
“The drugs could help engage the olfactory pleasure circuits and feelings of satisfaction, hijacking them for non-real food smells, like gourmand and other types of perfumes,” she said.

I peruse various frag subs (nb4 gay) and this seems to be a very real thing (and not confined to just gourmand fragrances). People with collections of hundreds of bottles.

That’s the sense of smell becoming heightened as GLPs make them go blind.

They have to replace the dopamine hits they used to get from eating. I’d bet obsessive behavior, with perfume, shopping, collecting in general or whatever else it may be, is in involuntary effort to fill that neurochemical void. There may also be similar neurochemical stimulation in constantly watching videos, surfing subs and axillary activities.

Oh look. More bullshite to scare people from GLP-1s that can benefit from it.

What's scary about buying perfumes? It's more like an interesting, unanticipated side effect.

A friend told me he changed bourbon brands because his favorite taste nasty since he started using GLP-1.
